The High Chaparral DVD

The High Chaparral was an American western television series that focused on the Cannon family who owned a ranch (The High Chaparral) in the Arizona Territory. Managing the ranch is head of the family "Big" John Cannon (Leif Erickson) with the help of his younger brother Buck (Cameron Mitchell) and son Billy Blue (Mark Slade), whose mother was killed in a conflict with the apaches. In the succeeding episodes, Big John marries aristocrat Victoria Montoya (Linda Cristal) to ensure peace with the neighbors; She then moves in together with her brother Manolito (Henry Darrow) and stays on as members of the household helping the Cannons to establish the ranch in the untamed land.

The High Chaparral ran on NBC from September 10, 1967 to September 10, 1971 and was consistently in the top 20 of the Nielsen Ratings in its 4 season run (98 episodes). The series was created by Hollywood writer/producer David Dorbert, who also created the hit series western series, Bonanza.
