The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp is considered as the first adult Western television series released on September 6, 1955 and lasts until 1961. The series is based on the life of the Frontier Marshall Wyatt Earp who lived from 1848 and 1929. The 30-minute show starred Hugh O' Brian as the well-known lawman. Wyatt Earp is a Marshall in Ellsworth then he moved to Dodge City and later to Tombstone, Arizona. It also featured many other historical characters during the time of Wyatt Earp such as John Wesley Hardin, the Thompson Brothers, Doc Holiday and Earp's brothers Morgan and Virgil. It followed the events happened in the life of the title character in chronological order. The series ran on ABC-TV for six years with 226 episodes. Frederick Hazlitt Brennan, an author and playwright wrote the majority of the 226 episodes. |
