Sky King is 30-minute American action-adventure television and radio series aired every Sunday of April 5, 1952 to March 8, 1959 on NBC-TV. It has four seasons with a total of 71 episodes starring Kirby Grant as Schuyler King also known as the “Sky King”. King is an aircraft pilot who owned a horse ranch and a personal plane named as “Songbird”. He lives with his niece, Penny King (Gloria Winters) and his nephew called the “Clipper King”. The series began as a radio program. Because of its popularity, it moved to the television and became a bi hit during its time. The familiar opening of the show is “From out of the clear blue of western sky comes Sky King”. Sky King is likely based on a real person, Jack Cones who is popular with the name “The Flying Constable” of Twenty Palms during 1930.
